Located in a pleasant countryside, the charming village on
the border of Tuscany and Umbria, between two oases of great
environmental importance, Lake Trasimeno (Umbria) and Lake
Montepulciano (Tuscany) enshrines a true gem of simple tranquillity,
the Villa Cozzano farm-holiday. This haven of peace and quiet
is girded by olive groves, vineyards and pines, all parts
of the estate.
A typical little country church in the village is connected
with the religious legend of the “teardrops of the Madonna
of Cozzano”. Local lore, as remembered by some peasant families
who once dwelt in the Villa Cozzano farmhouse, claims that
the image shed real tears. An 18th century farmhouse, classified
“an isolated cultural asset”, houses the concern. Loving renovation
has breathed new life into the building: capacious apartments,
ancient timber beams, old clay-brick arches and original furnishings
in elegant period style. Five apartments (70-80 m 2) have
their own entrance and consist of sleeping accommodation for
4-5 persons: a roomy sitting-room, a dining-room with kitchenette,
a sizable double bedroom, single bedrooms and a bathroom with
shower. Another apartment on the ground floor (50 m 2), again
with an independent entrance, can house 3 persons: a living-room
with kitchenette reached by a panoramic terrace, a double
and a single bedroom, a bathroom with shower.
Villa Cozzano, at 320 m a.s.l. lies at easy distance from
towns and cities of great historical and cultural importance:
Siena, Arezzo, Orvieto, Montepulciano, Cortona, Perugia, Assisi,
Florence and Rome.
For one’s leisure: a swimming-pool, table-tennis, mountain
bikes for the panoramic routes in the vicinity, a children’s
playground, and facilities for tennis and golf enthusiasts
nearby. The farmyard contains an Etruscan tomb, used in the
past by the peasants as a granary. |
